Our Roots

Yéyo was founded in 2009 by Jon Bullinger, who, at 25, left a full-time job at Intel to chase a dream: crafting tequila that honored tradition but dared to be different. A trip to Mexico led him to Arandas, where he discovered a family-run distillery and the rich red soils that would define Yéyo. He didn’t just fall in love with the tequila—he fell in love with the culture, the people, and the spirit of the town.

Alongside distillery owner Sergio Vivanco and legendary Master Distiller Sergio Cruz, Jon poured his passion into creating a tequila that pushes boundaries while staying true to its roots. Each release is intentional, bold, and unforgettable.

Yéyo—a common nickname in Mexico that carries warmth and connection—honoring the people, culture, and community that inspired it. Every bottle is a toast to tradition, crafted with purity and passion, and a celebration of the journey that made it possible.

Thank you for savoring the spirit of Yéyo.

The Origins of Yéyo Tequila

Yéyo Tequila is made in Arandas, a town in the highlands of Jalisco, where the air is crisper, cleaner & cooler. Covered with red volcanic rich soil and adequate rainfall, this region is known to grow the world’s best blue agave. We harvest only the best of the best aged blue agave plants from a single estate, using no added chemicals or pesticides, providing consistency & ensuring the land is not over-harvested.

Quality Ingredients Only

Every aspect of our process has been painstakingly refined, regardless of the increased cost & time it takes to make Yéyo Tequila. We pre-cook the oven to ensure the agave slow roasts evenly. We use champagne yeast for a consistent brightness to our tequila. We use more agave in each batch for more flavor and drinkability. And we regulate the temperature during distillation so that the heat doesn’t negatively impact the liquid.

Tequila, As Intended.

At Yéyo, we believe that tequila making is an art form. That's why we are highly experimental in the name of getting better or creating a more unique taste experience. We serenade our precious fermentation with classical music for over 190 hours, creating a relaxed and harmonious environment for both yeast and distiller. For our aged variants, we also experiment with unique types of barrels to create the tequila of our imaginations.

What’s not to love about crafting a delicious tequila that can be shared and enjoyed? We’re here for it all. Harvesting under the blazing Mexican sun. The wafting scents of roasting agave. The kinship with our family (Feliciano Vivanco) of growers and distillers in Arandas. The smile that lifts someone’s face as they discover and taste truly delicious 100% Blue Agave tequila for the first time. The sessions with mixologists who take our flavors and bring them to new frontiers through cocktails and pairings.

For us - Yéyo is love, travel, family, experience, pursuit, and all the rest.

Hundreds of tequilas were crafted, tested, tasted, and scored. What followed was a close bond with the Vivanco Family at NOM 1414 and legendary Master Distiller Sergio Cruz.

Together we have committed to an intense dedication to trial, refinement, and ultimate drinkability. This is why when it came time to name our tequila, we proudly named it after our master distiller.

What's Not To Love About Crafting a Quality Tequila Meant to be Enjoyed and Shared?
